Nichole Hunter has developed an extensive and diverse legal practice, with core expertise in corporate transactions, commercial real estate development, compliance and ethics, internal investigations, construction, and regulatory management. Her versatile skill set enables her to provide comprehensive legal solutions across a wide range of industries and sectors.
Nichole initially focused her practice on education and public administration, where she served as Legal Counsel to several school districts and charter schools. In these roles, she drafted and implemented board policies, provided legal opinions on complex educational and governance issues, and negotiated a myriad of contracts, including employment agreements, memorandum of understandings, food service, leases, purchase agreements, and professional services.
Her practice further expanded when she played an instrumental role in establishing a nonprofit corporation that assumed all the public health services from the City of Detroit's Department of Health and Wellness Promotion. This experience strengthened her background in health care access, disease prevention, health promotion, and the management of public health programs under the Michigan Public Health Code.
Nichole's commercial real estate practice includes a broad spectrum of real estate transactions, including program management of capital improvement projects, preparation of development agreements, construction contracts, acquisition of goods, services and works for public entities, negotiation of complex community development property purchases, real property title clearance reviews, and represent clients in real property tax assessment appeals and tax exemption matters.
In corporate law, Nichole has managed corporate formations, mergers, and dissolutions, and provided guidance on regulatory compliance and ethics programs. She regularly advises on corporate governance matters, including internal investigations into employee misconduct, waste, fraud, and abuse, ensuring that her clients meet stringent ethical standards while mitigating legal risks.
A certified mediator, Nichole has provided mediation services to several nonprofit organizations, including the Wayne Mediation Center and Community Legal Resources, where she has successfully resolved disputes across a range of industries.
In recognition of her exemplary contributions to the legal field, Nichole received the Barristers President’s Award from the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers. This prestigious award honors an attorney who has demonstrated high standards of service to the profession, clients, and the public early in their career. She is a graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit Class XXXV, a program recognizing emerging and established leaders tackling key regional issues.
