Shaun P. Ayer is a shareholder in the firm’s labor and employment practice group. Shaun helps employers by developing effective strategies that allow businesses to succeed. Whether it is negotiating a labor agreement or defending a lawsuit, attention to detail is what results in successful outcomes.
His practice focuses on representing public and private employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. Shaun represents employers in civil court proceedings, grievance arbitrations and administrative proceedings regarding unfair labor practice allegations. Additionally, Shaun has represented employers as chief negotiator for numerous collective bargaining agreements including Act 312 proceedings and other related NLRB and MERC proceedings. His experience in resolving contentious negotiations resulting in favorable agreements that avoid costly works stoppages allows businesses to focus on their core mission. Shaun also has established a MCOLES certified police agency for a major public entity under the Public Body Law Enforcement Agency Act.
Furthermore, Shaun routinely counsels and assists employers regarding large scale corporate restructurings (including WARN Act related issues), compliance with various applicable federal, state and local labor and employment laws, including the preparation and review of employment contracts, severance agreements, and employee handbooks and policies. Shaun has represented a broad spectrum of employers in education, hospitality, manufacturing, health care, municipal and gaming.
